Membership

Membership in the Southwestern Biofuels Association is for businesses, organizations, and individuals who have a stake in the development of a sustainable biofuels sector in the Southwest. By contributing as a SWBA member your organization maintains close contact with a range of services and a vibrant professional network that helps your organization stay competitive, helps your project with access to resources, planning tools and technical assistance, and increases the visibility of your enterprise through strategic marketing and public relations efforts.

Founding Member: $10,000 per year

Open to all businesses, universities, state and federal governmental agencies and other corporations or legal entities (including nonprofit) that are involved in the biofuels industry in the Southwest and agree to comply with the SWBA’s standards Founding Members will hold a seat on the Board of Directors as long as they are in good standing with the SWBA, including maintaining their annual dues.  The Board of Directors is the Governing Body of the SWBA and meets on at least a semi-annual basis.  Board Members may sit on all committees (please indicate the committees for which you are interested by checking boxes below).

Supporting Member: $1,000 per year                      

Open to all businesses, universities, state and federal governmental agencies and other corporations and legal entities (including nonprofit) that are involved in the biofuels industry the Southwest and agree to comply with the SWBA’s standards.  Associate Members are Voting Members of the SWBA and will meet at the annual meeting to determine the policy, goals and objectives of the SWBA.  Supporting Members may sit on one committee (please indicate the committee for which you are interested by checking the box below).

Associate Member: $ 500 per year

Open to all businesses and persons who are involved or interested in the biofuels industry in the Southwest and pay Associate Membership dues of $500 per year. Associate Members are nonvoting Members of the SWBA and will receive newsletters, reports, updates and other communications provided by the SWBA,andmay attend the Annual Meeting.

Policy & Legislative Committee

Develop policy and legislative positions with the intent of advocating in local, state and federal government arenas.

Technology, Research & Development Committee

Promote existing and new technology development through research and strategic partnerships

Education & Communications Committee

Increase awareness of biofuels by developing and disseminating educational materials to strategic audiences and the general public; promote internal communication with SWBA membership

Agricultural Committee

Promote development and use of Southwest feedstocks suitable for biofuels; encourage research and development of agricultural programs that benefit biofuels.

Environment

Research and advocate for environmental policy that promotes biofuels and protects the environment.

Consumers Committee

Support the wide spread availability of biofuel products in the market.  Work with engine manufacturers to create fuel performance standards. Foster communications that further biofuels usage.

*Membership in the SWBA is governed by its Bylaws. The Bylaws provide for two categories of Voting Members known as Founding Members and Supporting Members and one category of Nonvoting Members called Associate Members, all of which are further described below. SWBA encourages diversity in representation to reflect the interests and issues of biofuels.  All Members will receive newsletters, reports, updates and other communications and services provided by the SWBA.

** Members work within a committee structure, with Board Members rotating Committee Chairmanships.  Each Committee focuses on specific tasks within their assigned area of expertise and interest.  SWBA programs and work will be determined as part of the Committee’s meetings and conference calls.  Committees report to the Board of Directors on a bi-annual basis or more often when needed.
